Car crashed into side of moped, resulting in various broken stuff.

Quick inspection, something has cracked loose from the engine assembly

Teardown

All fairing and panels needs to be removed and the engine needs to
come of the frame.


View down seat position.


Exhaust removed.


Carburettor slider.

A lot of oil have leaked from exhaust seal,new one is needed.

Main harness mounts.

With moped strapped to a wall engine can be removed.


Secured to wall.

Engine removed, teardown and cleaning is needed before getting it welded.


Engine free from chassie.

A local firm TIG welded the mount.
HAZ is a concern, aluminum will lose some 40% of it rigidity.
We'll have to see how long it'll last.

Some additional damge and wear can be found, will have to fix it.


Starter motor tab is broken.


Nothing holding positive tab.

Theere seems to be enogh material to reuse same tab, just removal
of some plastic and then drilling a bigger hole.

Installation ok.

Old cylinder kit has gone way past recommended time for reneval, the odometer reads 14000km.
For the two stroke AC it should be replaced @10000km


New kit.


Carefully loosen headbolts.


Tap to release.


No damage or stripped threads.


Some wear.


Not too worn, just cleaning.


Good enoght with scotch brite.


Needle bearing is healthy.


Clip and rings in place.

Left clip foor wristpin goes in first, thin layer of tqostroke on needle
bearing, installation, right side clip goes in last.


Twist to set.

Cylinder is honed from factory, just need e good cleaning and a very thin coating of two stroke oil.

Carfully add gaskets and head bolts. they should be cleaned so that only finger strength is needed to seat all parts.

Just finger pinch needed.


Add gasket.

12Nm torque is all that is needed, crosspattern gently adding pressure until it clicks

Adding studs for exhaust.


Installing studs.

In order to bend exhaust back in place, engine needs to be mounted.


Time to reinstall engine.

Time to bend exhaust, it got bent out of shape when the car hit it.


Flange correction.


Pipe correction.


Several test for fit.

Additionally, the fan shroud took a hit, but luckily the piece did not
get lost.
I'll melt stitchings for it with hooks and soldering iron.


Loose piece.


first secure to shroud, dotted.

Stainless steel wire is cut to small S hooks.


Hooks melted into plastic.


50W soldering iron.


steady progress.

Assembled thee rest of the covers and added the engine covers.


Rear wheel added.
