Teardown

Fearly straightforward, some screws under the glued on speaker grille under after removal of earmuffs.

The cell replacement

The earpice for right ear contains the battery compartment.
Remove earmuff, pry away the speaker grille and there is 4x screws to remove.

Be careful with speaker wires.

Be careful when removing cell

It is a Li-ion 680mAh cell.
I was unable to cource a similar one so I opted for a major upgrade.
I had a batch of SONY laptop cells with unkonwn capacity, this would later prove to be a poor choice.

Anywho,continuing with teardown and mod.

To fit 18650, plastic needs cutting.

On the side of the headset is a decorative plastic pocket with no real use beyond estethics. Here the new battery will sit.

Fits snuggly.

sits acceptably.

BMS transplant

On the old cell there is aBMS, the free 18650 is not equipped with one, just need to desolder andmove it over to the new cell-

Battery with BMS.

At least it is not welded.

Battery comparment cleanup.

BMS is soldered to new cell.

Add some capton tape and some isolationg strips before installation.

Be careful not to pinch wires.

Time to reassemble.

Something is off with the new cell, battery life is only 4-6 hours.
Replaceing the cell with one taken out of an IKEA Eneby pack.

Some measurements

Not easy to gauge, it works for three or four days and then starts beeping low battery,
significant improvment.
Charging tíme is way longer as the only negative point.
